Welcome to the Mountain View Chronicle, a new community news blog focused on the Daybreak area of South Jordan, Utah.
About Me
My name is Justin Adams and I grew up right here in the Salt Lake Valley. I graduated from the University of Utah with a journalism degree in 2018. I’ve worn a lot of hats since then, including writer, photographer, “content creator,” social media manager and more. My wife Alyson and I have been married for seven years and we have a one year old boy named Luke and a dog named Charlie.
Why?
We moved to Daybreak last year and fell in love with the community. The parks and trails, the friendly people, the walkability, the amenities and events… the list goes on and on. With Daybreak being such a unique community and with so many exciting things going on, I immediately started to think about how much potential there was for some kind of storytelling project. And since I have over ten years of experience telling stories through writing, photography, video, and social media, I thought, “Who better to do something like that than me?”
For me, the motivation is three-fold.
First, I believe in giving back to your community, especially if you can do so in a way that’s unique to yourself and your talents. For example, I have a talent for photography. So when my wife and I got a dog and started taking him to the dog park on a frequent basis, I began bringing my camera with me to take pictures of our dog and all the other dogs as well. Then I offer to send the photos to the other dog owners for free. It’s nothing big, but I’ve had so many people tell me how much they love and appreciate getting those photos - so I keep doing it just to spread a little extra joy in the world.
Second, I’m naturally kind of a shy, introverted person, so I try to do things that force me out of my comfort zone that way. And I figure, what’s the point of living in an amazing community like Daybreak if you’re not going to get out there and be an active part of it. So this project is one way for me to do that.
Third and finally, those HOA dues are no joke so part of the motivation is to make a little extra money on the side.

What to Expect
So, what can you expect from this publication moving forward? My goal is to write a few in-depth stories each month, covering topics like development, education, business, sports, and human interest stories, just to name a few. I may even report on the occasional South Jordan City Council meeting or HOA board meeting when there are agenda items drawing extra interest from Daybreak residents. Those stories will be supplemented by shorter recurring series like Dog of the Week, Resident Spotlights, and Photos of the Week.
While I’m currently the only writer for the publication, my intention is for this to be a home for many different voices from the Daybreak community. I’ve already had several people express interest in becoming contributing writers, so hopefully you’ll soon be seeing articles written by many other people besides myself.
Hopefully that gives you a good idea of my vision for the Mountain View Chronicle. I invite you to explore our website, read some of our first stories, subscribe to our email newsletter, and follow us on social media.
